 Competition
Handles (wood shaft)
Only the best clear prime white New Zealand Tawa is selected for the
mallet handles. Tawa has proven its resilience over the test of time. The
lower half of the handles are round and the top half is shaped to a
positive octagonal shape, which has proven to be the most comfortable
handle shape available, fitting in the hand nicely and suits a variety of
grips.
Competition Handles
(fiberglass)
As an alternative to the
traditional turned wooden handle we also have mallets with the same
octagonal wooden handle but with 16mm extruded fiberglass shafts in the
lower half of the handle. They are stronger than wooden shafts and are
preferred by some, but cost a little more. |
Competition Heads
Heads are made from managed, sustainable Malaysian Quila which has a
high density, stability and an attractive rich color. The heads have an
inlaid sighting line and ‘Tufnol’ end plates, a 6mm thick brown
resin-impregnated cloth material which is bonded with hi-tech epoxy, are
fitted. Tufnol is widely recognized as being the most satisfactory
material for use on the striking area of a croquet mallet. The end plates
are virtually unbreakable and deliver a crisp and true surface on impact.
Lead
weights
have been inserted into predrilled holes on the under side of the
head and then plugged with Quila dowels.
Wood Mallets Ltd. distinctive gold crest is stamped on one side of the
mallet head and the overall mallet weight stamped on the handle. Each
mallet has a high luster hard wearing two part varnish finish .
Mallets are delivered by air-post worldwide. Grips made from Suede or Bound cord can be fitted. The standard size is 36" overall, with a 9 1/4"
long rectangular head and a total weight of 3.00 lb.
* Mallets may be custom made at a nominal charge
